Born and raised in the Chicago area, Clara Curtis moved to Hawai’i in 2021. She received her BFA in Painting & Illustration from Brigham Young University–Hawai’i in 2025. She also studied art history through the Brigham Young University Study Abroad General Education program in Paris, France during the summer of 2023. This experience was deeply inspiring as she spent her days at places like The Louvre and D’Orsay studying the masters. Encouraged by her experiences of moving away from home and traveling, Clara enjoys painting representational portraits and life scenes that often evoke a sense of nostalgia. She also has a passion for researching and writing about artists who inspire her, including Berthe Morisot, Artemisia Gentileschi, and John William Waterhouse. Her work was shown in multiple exhibitions and won multiple awards at her university.
